Pyromania and foliage!
Welcome back, ye Knights, Maidens and Lieges!
Our first production sprint is OVER!
Which means our game is just about halfway done. We still have some more things to go over and add, but that will be for the second production sprint.
Anyways, you're here to look at our updates, and we shall provide!
First off, we made some scatter meshes to scatter around the scene.
These rocks, stones, flowers and grass make the lower bit of the arena so much more lovelier, don't you think?
As you might also notice, there's now a bridge over the river.
WOAH WATCH OUT FOR THAT FIRE!!
There's a dragon flying around the scene now to cause some extra chaos.
Here's a quick message from one of our programmers!
Hey everyone, Reï here. I was busy this week with laying some foundations for audio, HUD and CRTP singleton.
The HUD came in 2 parts, the player panel and the death timer. The player panel displays which colour the panel belongs to, current health, their amount of lives and the score that player accumulated.
The health is displayed similarly to Super Smash Brothers, all you got to know is the bigger the number is the further you get knocked back and the easier you get spiked!
The amount of lives is rather explanatory, when you see no hearts left you are dead and can't respawn.
Score is given for a few actions, if you hit someone you get a small amount, if you get a kill you get a decent amount but if you're the last one standing you get a big chunk. We hope to spark some action packed gameplay with this.
The death timer appears if you are dead and respawning.
Last we have a technical change, the CRTP singleton. Basically, we changed our singletons so that we only have to inherit from a class and that class becomes a singleton.
Renzo was busy bringing in some heat in the game with a dragon!
The dragon sporadically flies in and spits fire on the ground which damages you but does not push you. (as seen in the gif above)
That was about it for us for this week!
As Reï just mentioned, we finally have a proper HUD and lives system.
On this image, you can see that Blue has died and Red is respawning. (Green is also winning)
